Former Harry Potter actress Emma Watson has been banned from driving for six months after she was caught speeding.

The actress, who played the role of 'Hermione Granger' in the franchise, has been studying for a Master's degree in creative writing at Oxford University since 2023.

Driving at 38mph in a 30-mph zone

According to BBC, Watson, 35, was driving a blue Audi in Oxford when she was caught going at 38 miles per hour (about 60km/h) in a 30-mph (about 40km/h) zone.

The incident took place on Jul. 31, 2024.

BBC reported that Watson had previously accumulated nine penalty points on her licence before this incident occurred.

Her case was heard at High Wycombe Magistrates' Court, England, on Jul. 16 and she was fined £1,044 (about S$1,797).

District Judge Arvind Sharm also endorsed another three penalty points on Watson's licence, which triggered a six-month driving ban.

Watson did not appear at the five-minute briefing.

'Quidditch referee' was fined for speeding on the same day

Another former 'Harry Potter' actress, Zoe Wanamaker, was also fined for speeding and her case was heard in court on the same day as Watson, BBC reported.

The 76-year-old actress played Quidditch referee and flying instructor 'Madam Hooch' in the franchise.

Wanamaker was caught driving at 46 miles per hour (about 74 km/h) in a 40-mph (about 64km/h) zone on Aug. 7 2024.

Like Watson, she had also accumulated nine penalty points on her licence before this incident.

She was also fined £1,044 (about S$1,797) and banned from driving for six months.
