Arrested within 48 hours
The suspects are aged between 19 and 20, New Straits Times reported.
They were picked up by police in Johor Baru and Gemencheh, Negri Sembilan between 9am on Jun. 26 and 2am on Jun. 27.
Sepang police chief Assistant Commissioner Norhizam Bahaman said all suspects were known to the victim.
They were arrested within 48 hours of the murder, he added.
The suspects were taken to Sepang Sessions Court on Friday morning and remanded.
Malaysia Chinese language media Sin Chew Daily reported that it understood that one of the suspects was an acquaintance of the deceased and the boyfriend of one of the deceased's roommates, a detail which was not reported by the mainstream Malaysia English press.
About the case
The victim, from Kuching, Sarawak, was found naked and dead in her condominium unit in Cyberjaya on Tuesday morning, Jun. 24.
She was a Bachelor of Physiotherapy student at a university in Cyberjaya.
Her body was discovered by a friend at about 10am.
Her friend immediately alerted the police.
The deceased had injuries on her body.
Preliminary checks by the police found no signs of forced entry into the residence.
An autopsy confirmed the cause of death as blunt force trauma to the head.
The Malaysia police reportedly analysed closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage to narrow down the suspect's location.
Cash, two bank cards, a laptop, and a mobile phone were reportedly missing from the victim's residence.
According to an initial NST report, police obtained CCTV footage from multiple sources and were working to trace the suspect's whereabouts.
It was not known at the time how many suspects were involved.
The suspect was believed to have used the victim's bank card to make five to six ATM withdrawals after her death.
The police had also said they did not find any evidence indicating that the victim was sexually assaulted, contrary to online reports and speculation.
But Sin Chew Daily has continued to report that the victim was suspected to have performed unnatural sexual acts and a towel was retrieved from the scene by police.
