M'sian student, 20, found naked & dead in dorm room with head injury but no signs of rape
Several of the victim's valuables, including her ATM card, were reportedly missing.
A 20-year-old female university student was found dead in her dormitory room in Cyberjaya, Malaysia on Jun. 24.
The police are investigating the case as murder, reported Malay Mail.
Cyberjaya is in the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur.
The victim was discovered with injuries on her body by a friend about 10am, and the police were alerted immediately.
Several of the victim's valuables, including her laptop, mobile phone, ATM card, and cash were reportedly missing.
Police confirmed on Jun. 26 that there was no element of rape in her death, contrary to some claims online, according to The Star.
Shin Min Daily News reported that she was found naked.
Blunt force trauma
Malaysia police said a post-mortem revealed the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head.
Initial investigations found no signs of forced entry into her unit.
The police had also not found any evidence indicating that the victim was sexually assaulted.
"We urge the public to refrain from spreading unverified information. There is no indication of rape in this case based on the post-mortem results," he said.
Alone in dorm
The victim, who was from Kuching, Sarawak, was believed to be studying for a Bachelor of Physiotherapy at a private university in Cyberjaya.
She reportedly shared the dorm room with five other housemates, who had gone home for the holidays since Jun. 21.
She was alone at the dorm as she had to sit for exams.
Suspect made withdrawals using victim's card
According to New Straits Times, police have obtained CCTV footage from multiple sources and are now working to trace the suspect's whereabouts.
The suspect is believed to have used the victim's bank card to make five to six ATM withdrawals after her death.
