DJ Soda's hair 'melted from the roots' after salon bleached it for too long

South Korean deejay, DJ Soda, 37, whose real name is Hwang Sohee, took to Instagram on Jun. 17 to post about her grievances over a recent hair salon trip.

The hair salon had allegedly ruined her hair after bleaching it for too long, causing it to fall off.

"Couldn't sleep for two weeks"

The DJ said that after the incident, she "couldn't sleep for two weeks" and "cried almost every day."

"It’s hard for me to look in the mirror. When I see videos fans took of me, I feel even more heartbroken."

Soda had shared that this is the hair salon she normally frequents and that her hair had been initially full, thick and healthy.

She had also taken a three-year break from bleaching and took care of her hair consistently.

She had decided to go back to blonde so she could show her fans "a pretty side of me again."

Hair fell out in big handfuls

Unfortunately, things didn't end well, and her hair began to fall out in big handfuls daily.

She ended up deciding to shave parts of her head. After her hair allegedly "melted from the roots."

"It will take over 2 years for my hair to grow back. Now I try to cover the bald parts with the little hair I have left. It makes me feel very lost and very sad every day."

She wrote that her hair is now only 0.3cm long, and she is thus she is unable to get hair extensions.

"Don’t end up like me, bleaching really depends on the hairstylist’s skill, so make sure to do your research and get it done by a bleaching specialist!"
