The body of a 39-year-old female vice-principal of a school in Johor, was found in her home in Skudai on Jun. 13.

Lo Kwan Fong was believed to have passed away for about a month before she was discovered.

Lo apparently had no medical history before her death, but is suspected to have suffered from depression, according to Sin Chew Daily, citing Johor Education and Information Committee chairman Aznan Tamin.

She was also allegedly deep in debt before her death, including debts to loan sharks.

In response to media queries as to whether or not Lo had been a victim of a fraud scam before her death, Aznan said investigations are still underway.

A statement issued on Jun. 17 stated that Lo was the only daughter in the family.

Her parents have both passed on and she had been living alone.

Her mother passed away 15 years ago, it was reported.

Called school to say she could no longer work

Aznan further added that Luo had contacted the school in September 2024 to inform them that she could no longer come to work, and was uncontactable by March 2025.

Lianhe Zaobao added that the last time a colleague visited Lo was in February 2025, and that her neighbours had not seen her for a long time.

Lo's body was found at 7:30pm on Jun. 13.

Her body was transferred to Hospital Sultanah Aminah, waiting to be claimed.

Her school has also appealed to the public for help in reaching out to Lo's next of kin, including an aunt, who was believed to have been living in Singapore.

No foul play was suspected in her death.

Anyone with any information may contact the Skudai police in Johor, Malaysia, at 07-511 2622.
