A 28-year-old woman died after a car she was in rear-ended a public bus along Punggol Road towards Tampines Expressway (TPE) on May 13.

The authorities were alerted to the incident at 2:50pm.

Driver survived

The woman, a passenger in the car, passed away after she was conveyed unconscious to the hospital.

The driver, a 30-year-old man, was conscious when taken to the hospital.

It is not known what was their relationship with each other.

Vape and related components found

Police said they found e-vaporiser pods in the car.

According to CNA, the Health Sciences Authority (HSA) said more than 1,000 e-vaporisers and related components were discovered and the driver is assisting with investigations.

This was after the e-vaporiser-related offences were referred to the HSA.

Woman believed to have just returned to Singapore from Malaysia

Shin Min Daily News subsequently reported that the deceased, Lu Tangqi (transliteration), was believed to have returned to Singapore from Malaysia just before tragedy struck.

She worked as a manicurist in a nail salon at Stirling Road in Queenstown.

A social media post showed that she had celebrated her friend's birthday at a restaurant in Kuala Lumpur on May 9.

Posted about her daughter

Two days later, on Sunday, which was Mother's Day, she also posted about attending the birthday party of her friend's one-year-old son.

Lu apparently mentioned that her own daughter had a lot of fun at the birthday party.

She also uploaded a video of her and her daughter together.

She then put up a Mother's Day post, which received responses from friends who wished her "Happy Mother's Day".

On Tuesday morning, hours before the fatal accident, Lu posted again online to bid farewell to her friends.

The post apparently mentioned that Singapore Airlines and Malaysia Airlines were the best airlines, as they were always on time.

It was likely that she was at the airport at that time to take a flight back to Singapore.

Following the collision, a pink suitcase was apparently found in the car.

After news broke that the accident had occurred, messages expressing their condolences were left on Lu's social media profile.

The deceased woman's parents and friends showed up at the morgue on May 15 to claim her body.

A Go-Ahead Singapore spokesperson said bus service 82 was stationary at the traffic light when it was suddenly hit by a car from behind.
