A beloved cat in Yishun, named King Kong, was found dead this morning near Yishun Oleander Breeze in a horrific state.

Pictures online showed the cat with its guts hanging out.

A community cat feeder, Min, who feeds King Kong and community cats in the area, told Mothership that she learnt of the cat's death earlier today.

She was alerted by the current caretaker of the cat, who had rescued King Kong after it was abandoned.

The cat would usually roam around during the day and go back outside the caretaker's unit to sleep at night, because it didn't like to stay indoors.

The caretaker was herself informed in the morning by someone who had found the cat's body on the road.

The man who found the cat had placed King Kong's body on the table.

King Kong's caretaker noticed that his body appeared to have been cut by a sharp object. The cat's organs had spilt out, and its eyes appeared to have been gouged out.

They suspect that someone tortured the cat to death before placing him on the road.

In response to queries from Mothership, NParks said they received feedback on a cat found dead at Yishun Street 51 and are looking into the matter.

"The National Parks Board (NParks) takes all feedback received from the public on animal cruelty seriously. NParks has received feedback on a cat found dead at Yishun Street 51 and is looking into the matter.
