Cat A COE for smaller cars hits S$103,009, crosses S$100,000 mark again
Cat A and Cat B COE premiums went up.

Certificate of Entitlement (COE) premiums rose for Category A and Category B cars in the latest tender exercise on May 7.
Cat A
Premiums for Category A vehicles or smaller, less powerful cars up to 1,600cc and 130bhp, as well as for EVs with up to 110 kilowatts of power, rose to S$103,009.
This was a 3.5 per cent increase, or S$3,509 from the S$99,500 recorded at the last bidding exercise.
This is the first time that Cat A prices have crossed S$103,000 since October 2024.
Cat B
The premium for Category B, for bigger, more powerful cars above 1,600cc or 130bhp, as well as EVs with more than 110 kilowatts of power, went up to S$119,890.
This was a 2.5 per cent increase, or S$2,887 more than the S$117,003 premium set at the last round.
This type of COE is needed to register larger and more powerful cars and electric vehicles (EVs).
Open Category
The premium for the open category COE price increased to S$118,889, S$888 more than the previous premium of S$118,001.
Open category certificates can be used to register any vehicle type, excluding motorcycles, but they are almost exclusively used for larger, more powerful cars.
The motorcycle COE premium fell to S$8,709, a decrease of 6.9 per cent or S$600 from the previous premium of S$9,309.
The commercial vehicle (Category C) premium fell as well to S$62,590, a decrease of S$2,411 or 3.9 per cent from the previous premium of S$65,001.
