Operates like a field hospital.
Singapore has sent a 34-member emergency medical team to Myanmar on Apr. 3 to provide humanitarian assistance in the wake of a 7.7-magnitude earthquake.
The team will head to Yamethin township outside Naypyitaw.
The Singapore Emergency Medical Team (SGEMT) comprises six doctors, 10 nurses, including two midwives, and allied healthcare professionals, as well as personnel with technical and logistical expertise, were deployed by the Ministry of Health (MOH).
Also involved are a clinical psychologist, a physiotherapist and a clinical operations officer.
Formed in September 2024
This will be the first deployment of the SGEMT since it was formed in September 2024.
The team is expected to be on site for the next 14 days, MOH in a statement on Thursday.
The team operates like a field hospital to provide emergency services and medical care, such as primary care, and maternal and child health outpatient services, to more than 100 patients a day, said MOH.
The operation is dubbed Falconwing.
Singapore’s assistance focuses on providing immediate relief and supporting recovery efforts with help from local and international partners, MOH added.
Singapore has deployed the Operation Lionheart rescue team by the Singapore Civil Defence Force, as well as mobilised two transport aircraft of the Republic of Singapore Air Force to deliver aid supplies to Myanmar.
