Red, orange, violet and pink skies appeared over Singapore on Apr. 24 evening.
Photos of the phenomenon were taken from various parts of Singapore and shared on the CloudSpotting & SkySpotting Singapore Facebook page.
What causes red skies?
The red skies effect typically occurs after heavy thunderstorm during the day, where the rain tends to wash “large particles” out of the air.
Such particles absorb more light and scatter its wavelengths more equally, making the colours more muted.
In their absence, the colours seen in the sky can appear more intense.
