'I'm a renowned lawyer': Lim Tean says his conviction & court cases won't affect GE2025 chances
Lim urged voters not to be distracted by "smears" levelled against him.

People's Alliance for Reform (PAR) secretary-general Lim Tean, who has been convicted for practising law without a licence and is facing pending court cases, said he doesn't feel these will affect his GE2025 campaign as he's a "renowned lawyer".
When asked by CNA on Apr. 25 whether he thinks the conviction and charges will affect his chances in the elections, Lim said, "Not at all".
"I do not want to beat my own drum, but I am a renowned lawyer," Lim added.

Lim, 60, who was on a walkabout in Potong Pasir at the time, urged voters not to be distracted by what he considered "smears" levelled against him.
He added that he has faced such "smears" since 2020.
In February, Lim was sentenced to six weeks' jail and a S$1,000 fine for attending court hearings on behalf of his clients — without a practising certificate — on 32 occasions in two months.
Lim said at the time that he intends to appeal against his conviction and sentence.
Lim also has pending charges for offences that include criminal breach of trust, according to The Straits Times.

However, Lim isn't deterred by this, and come May 3, will fight for election in Potong Pasir SMC.
He faces in a three-way fight with Alex Yeo from the People's Action Party (PAP) and Williamson Lee from the Singapore People's Party (SPP).

"I am still standing strong, and I will be here every day fighting for the residents of Potong Pasir," Lim told CNA.
Additionally, Lim pointed out that he's a "senior lawyer" who has handled high-profile cases, and challenged the decisions of government agencies, including correction directions under the Protection from Online Falsehoods and Manipulation Act (POFMA).
Lim added that he does not intend to "hide my fire under my bushels any longer".
As a whole, PAR plans to hold three rallies for GE2025, said Lim.
The first will be held at Northlight School on the evening of Apr. 26, according to Lim's Facebook.
Apart from Lim in Potong Pasir SMC, PAR will also be contesting in Jalan Besar GRC and Tanjong Pagar GRC.
