Man, 30, allegedly snatched sling bag with over S$3,000 worth of items from woman, 78, in Toa Payoh
The bag contained items valued at over S$3,000.

A 30-year-old man was arrested on Apr. 24 for allegedly snatching the sling bag of a 78-year-old victim in Toa Payoh, which contained items valued at over S$3,000.
Police said in a release that the man was tracked down and arrested the same day.
The incident
At about 1:40am on Apr. 24, police were alerted to the case of snatch theft along Toa Payoh Rise.
A man had allegedly snatched the sling bag belonging to a 78-year-old woman.
It contained five handphones, a portable wifi router, an EZ link card and other miscellaneous items valued approximately at S$3000.
The man was not known to the victim.
Arrested
Officers from Tanglin Police Division established the identity of the man through follow-up investigations and via CCTV and police camera footage.
They arrested him later that day.
The man will be charged in court on Apr. 26 with snatch theft.
Police advised members of the public who encounter such cases to remain calm, and take note of the suspect's physical appearance and identifying features.
They should then call the police as soon as possible.
