Police looking for Mercedes driver & 2 passengers who abandoned car & ran away from roadblock in Geylang
"Efforts to trace the driver and the passengers are underway," the police said.
After seeing a roadblock along Lor 14 Geylang, a Mercedes driver and two passengers decided to abandon their car and run away.
The Singapore Police Force (SPF) told Mothership that traffic police (TP) officers were conducting a roadblock along Lor 14 Geylang towards Guillemard Road at around 8pm on Apr. 4, when they spotted a car reversing away from the roadblock point.
The driver and his passengers then abandoned the vehicle along Lor 21 Geylang.
"Efforts to trace the driver and the passengers are underway," the police said.
Photos submitted to Shin Min Daily News showed the road being cordoned off by police, with at least four officers investigating the car.
Curious bystanders can be seen observing the investigation nearby.
In one photo, a police dog can be seen sniffing the boot of the Mercedes.
The Chinese news media said that it obtained dashcam footage of the scene, which shows the Mercedes car speeding along Lor 21 Geylang before stopping at a road intersection.
Three people then suddenly rushed out of the car and ran in different directions.
One passenger was observed to have grabbed a bag of unknown items from the car before leaving.
Police investigations are ongoing.
