The 4-member GRC is led by Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and made up of Senior Minister of State Zaqy Mohamad, Mayor Alex Yam and Member of Parliament Hany Soh.

At the Marsiling-Yew Tee Town Day, PM Wong promised to continue to make Marsiling-Yew Tee a better home for the residents.

He added that the team has taken residents' feedback and suggestions into consideration while working on this masterplan, and they will continue to work with residents to turn these plans into reality.

Major developments may take more time and certainly more than five years. However, the work will commence within the next few years and will transform the entire GRC upon completion, PM Wong added.

These developments include:

  • the development of Sungei Kadut Eco-district, a complete revamp of the entire Sungei Kadut industrial estate, which will bring new opportunities and jobs,
  • the redevelopment of the Kranji Race Course, which will bring new flats and recreational options, and
  • a major redevelopment at Woodlands Checkpoint

MP Alex Yam: PAP team welcomes SDP's contest

Speaking to the media at the event, Yam said that the People's Action Party welcomes Singapore Democratic Party's contest, adding that it's healthy for democracy, CNA reported.

SDP has contested at Marsiling-Yew Tee in the last two general elections so it didn't come as a surprise to them, he said.

When asked if PM Wong will stay in Limbang for the upcoming election, Yam said that he had made "tremendous impact" for the GRC and hopes PM Wong can continue to remain but the final decision lies with Wong, who is the party's secretary general.
