'We can work something out': SDP's Chee Soon Juan on 3-corner fight with NSP & PAP at Sembawang GRC
Hotly contested.

The Singapore Democratic Party's (SDP) secretary-general, Chee Soon Juan, said the party will continue to try and "work something out" with the National Solidarity Party (NSP) to avoid a three-cornered fight at Sembawang GRC.
According to the Straits Times (ST), NSP announced that it will contest Sembawang GRC and Tampines GRC.
However, it will withdraw from Sembawang West and Tampines Changkat SMCs, as well as Marsiling-Yew Tee and Jalan Besar GRCs.
Reaching out
Speaking at SDP's manifesto launch on Apr. 20, Chee said: "We'll try to continue to persuade NSP to rethink its strategy. But of course, I can understand they want to contest as well. But there are always alternative arrangements."
He added: "The thing is, we can only try to reach out to them as much as we can, and they make the final decision."
SDP earlier introduced its candidates for Sembawang GRC: SDP deputy chair Bryan Lim, entrepreneur Surayah Akbar, political scientist James Gomez, as well as Alfred Tan and Damanhuri Abas.
Speaking to Mothership on Apr. 6, NSP's secretary-general Spencer Ng said:
"We are open to discussion on how best they can field their team elsewhere. We have no intention to move anywhere. We have every intention to contest in Sembawang and Tampines."
