YouTuber JianHao Tan carries daughter down 21 storeys after earthquake forces family to evacuate Bangkok hotel

Singaporean YouTuber Jianhao Tan and his family were in Bangkok, Thailand, when a powerful 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar on Mar. 28.

Tan shared videos of the evacuation with his followers, documenting the ordeal on Instagram.

In the clips, Tan is seen fleeing down 21 floors via the emergency staircase, carrying his daughter Starley in his arms.

"People were screaming as they ran down the emergency staircase," he shared in one video.

He added that despite the circumstances, his daughter managed to remain calm and just held him tight as he ran down the stairs.

The building’s walls showed signs of damage, with concrete debris littering the stairwell.

Tan also shared a video of hotel staff managing the situation, with a woman speaking to guests over a loudspeaker.

"Stay safe if you're around the area"

In a follow-up post, the family is seen stowed safely in a vehicle.

His daughter, Starley, commented on the aftermath of the quake.

"The [lamp post became] slanted like this," she said.

She also said that the earthquake caused water from the swimming pool to spill, calling it a "flood".

Despite the ordeal, Tan thanked the hotel staff for their efforts and for "handling everything so well".

"Stay safe if you're around the area," he said.
