A Chinese woman living in Singapore recently posted on Xiaohongshu, praising SBS Transit rail staff for their efficiency in recovering her lost bag.

According to her video, the woman had just arrived in Singapore and bought too many things, prompting her to get her child to carry her bag.

Upon exiting the MRT station, however, the woman belatedly realised her bag was left on the MRT seat.

Her child felt guilty and apologised for the mishap, but the woman remained calm and said that she would talk to the MRT staff for assistance in retrieving her bag.

The woman, who got off at Hillview station on the Downtown Line, said that her bag was fortunately retrieved by the staff seven stops later at Stevens MRT station.

The woman shared that the process of retrieving her bag was very smooth, with the staff going through her belongings to ensure that the bag was indeed hers, and to make sure that everything was intact.

"Because Singapore is a very trustworthy country, the staff didn't have to worry about being misunderstood," she said.

All she had to do was sign a form to acknowledge that she had received her lost bag.

Reassuring country

The woman then recounted a story from her neighbour's child in China who used to study in Singapore.

The child had left a pack of tissues in the school library. A few days later, a library staff returned the pack of tissues to him.

When the woman returned to Hillview MRT station, she found her two children waiting in the paid concourse area, right in front of the Passenger Service Centre.

Apparently, station staff had let them in to keep them safe.

"I have to say that this is a really reassuring country. Actually, I was very nervous when the bag was lost because my documents and keys were in the bag," she said.

"I want to let my children know through this incident that the way to solve a problem is to stay calm."

Praised woman for remaining calm

Many commenters praised the woman for remaining calm and not blaming her children.

Many also praised Singapore for its good security.

One commenter also shared that their family left a newly purchased iPhone 15 on a Scoot plane last year but fortunately managed to get it back as someone returned the phone to Changi Airport.
