A group of students from Hwa Chong Institution (HCI) have warmed hearts online with their sincere participation in preparing iftar for a local mosque.
Iftar is the evening meal that Muslims eat at sunset to break their fast during Ramadan.
The boys from HCI were featured in an Instagram reel posted by Al-Falah Mosque on Mar. 26.
From the reel, the boys had their hands full.
They prepared fruits and large platters of rice, passing them along conveyor belt-style and laying them neatly on the floor.
They even dished out teh tarik and bandung, with one boy trying the rose-flavoured drink for the very first time.
Finally, they sat down to eat together—using their hands.
Aside from the hard work, the boys sat through a presentation on Islam and experienced Mecca with the help of a virtual reality headset.
This one probably had his mind blown:
Very cool indeed.
Lauded for willingness to learn
The boys' actions were lauded by Instagram users, who praised their willingness to learn and engage with different cultural practices.
One user who was present at the mosque that day commended the boys for doing a "great job" and welcoming the Muslim adherents with "smiley faces".
So wholesome!
