Man, 38, enters flatmate's room to sniff her underwear & commit lewd acts with plush toy, gets 10 weeks' jail
She had set up a CCTV in her room as she felt suspicious.

While renting a room in a HDB flat with his wife, a 38-year-old Vietnamese man trespassed into their flatmate's room and committed lewd acts with her underwear and plush toy.
The victim, a 29-year-old Malaysian woman, caught him after setting up a CCTV camera in her room.
She'd felt suspicious as she noticed her belongings would be moved around the room while she was at work, the court heard.
The man, Nguyen Van Hao, was arrested and sentenced to 10 weeks' jail on Mar. 27.
The victim cannot be named due to a gag order.
Lewd acts
In January 2025, the victim noticed that her belongings were moved around while she was at work.
Feeling uneasy, she decided to install a CCTV camera on Feb. 16.
On Feb. 19, she had left for work when she got a notification on the app linked to the CCTV camera, informing her that it had detected motion in the room.
She opened the live camera feed and was horrified to see Nguyen performing a number of lewd acts on her belongings.
First, he sniffed her underwear while masturbating.
He then undressed and put on the victim's bra and panties.
Afterwards, he put on a condom and performed a lewd act with the victim's plush toy while on her bed.
When he was done, he got off her bed, carefully placed the bra and panties back in the original position, made the bed, and redressed in his own clothes.
In total, he spent about 16 minutes in her room.
Got caught
The victim felt "very distraught" upon seeing the live camera feed, Deputy Public Prosecutor Dhiraj G Chainani said.
She was also scared at the thought of seeing him in the flat, and anxious about having to make alternative living arrangements.
She lodged a police report at Geylang Neighbourhood Police Centre the same day.
Nguyen was arrested a few days later on Feb. 24.
He pleaded guilty to one count of insulting the victim's modesty, with another count of trespass taken into consideration in sentencing.
For insulting a person's modesty, he could have been jailed for up to a year, fined, or both.
