A trainee manager, Ronghui, from the Haidilao outlet at Plaza Singapura went viral recently for telling a content creator, Xavier Chen, that he makes about S$10,000 a month after working there for six years.

In the video, the trainee manager shared what the daily life of a Haidilao employee was like, and what his job entails.

It's actually quite an interesting video, but most viewers were enthralled with one particular detail.

At the start of the video, Ronghui shared that his monthly salary was about S$10,000.

The Haidilao employee also shared that he was a trainee manager, with a store manager above him.

He also revealed that while Singapore might not have a tipping culture like other countries, he did still get tips, which is fully kept by the employee receiving it.

He also revealed that the highest tip he's ever gotten was S$1,000.

Haidilao responds

Responding to queries from Mothership, Haidilao said that the figure in the video was an "exception".

They further clarified that the number provided was influenced by a "unique combination of factors, including store location, specialised role, and extensive working hours".

Further stating that their salary structure was designed to reflect these "variables". They said this case "should not be seen as representative of the average income".

They also said they were "committed to offering competitive compensation and growth opportunities, recognising that dedication and hard work can lead to remarkable achievements".
