FairPrice's charity arm will work with local partners to distribute S$1 million worth of free fresh eggs to nutritionally vulnerable communities in Singapore by 2030.

Dubbed the "Protein Pledge", the initiative was jointly launched on Mar. 25 by FairPrice Foundation (FPF) and FairPrice Group (FPG).

It will help provide for the nutritional needs of seniors, low income families and migrant workers, according to a news release.

To improve access to fresh protein

FairPrice said the initiative was prompted by findings from "A Full Plate", a recent study which examined the changing food habits, preferences and challenges faced by Singaporeans.

It showed that low-income respondents preferred to receive protein instead of processed or canned foods, which are more common food donation items.

18 charity and community partners have agreed to partner with FPF in 2025 to distribute fresh eggs regularly to over 46,000 beneficiaries across Singapore.

These include the Lions Befrienders, Children's Aid Society and Migrant Workers' Centre and self-help group M3.

Vipul Chawla, group chief executive officer for FPG and board member of FPF, said the charity arm remains focused on providing the underprivileged in Singapore with the essentials they need to lead more fulfilling lives.

Organisations serving vulnerable communities are encouraged to visit go.fpg.sg/protein-pledge to learn more about the Protein Pledge, and to opt in for the programme.
