2 sent to hospital after taxi turns turtle, knocks down lamp post near Changi Airport

The driver is assisting with police investigations.

A driver and passenger were sent to hospital on Feb. 17 after a taxi flipped and landed upside down on a road leading to Jewel Changi Airport.

The police and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) told Mothership that they were alerted to the accident along Airport Boulevard towards Jewel at about 9:30am on Feb. 17.

The taxi was believed to have self-skidded, police said.

The aftermath

Footage of the aftermath was shared to Facebook the same day.

A red Trans-cab taxi had turned turtle on the first lane of a road that leads to Jewel.

A lamp post had also been knocked down in the accident.

Two people were seen sitting on the kerb.

A few security personnel were also at the scene.

Based on a video shared to the Singapore Roads Accident Facebook page, vehicles were seen slowly navigating the road to avoid the overturned taxi.

Driver, 65, assisting with investigations

Police told Mothership that a 47-year-old female taxi passenger and a 65-year-old male taxi driver were conveyed conscious to the hospital.

SCDF said they were sent to Changi General Hospital.

The taxi driver is assisting with investigations, police said.

Police investigations are ongoing.
