The People's Action Party (PAP) will replace the chairman of its Paya Lebar branch for the second time in six months after a previous reshuffle.

CNA reported that the current chairman, Kenny Sim Mong Keang, 55, will be leaving his role due to health reasons.

He is expected to be replaced by Daniel Liu, a political newcomer.

The Paya Lebar branch is located within Aljunied GRC, which is held by the Workers' Party.

Who is Liu?

Liu is the son of Singapore's first master planner, Liu Thai Ker, and the managing director of the urban planning consultancy, Morrow Architects and Planners.

He is also the executive director of Morrow Intelligence, an urban data analytics planning firm.

Currently, Liu serves as chairman of the Nee Soon East Citizens' Consultative Committee within Nee Soon GRC.

He has been volunteering in Nee Soon East, which is represented by PAP Member of Parliament (MP) Louis Ng, since October 2014.

Liu is also the current chairman of the Springtime Splendour Chinese New Year carnival in Nee Soon.

CNA reported that Liu and Sim declined to comment on the change.
