The warehouse, located at 11 Kranji Crescent, is operated by recycling and waste management company Wah & Hua.
By the time the SCDF arrived, the fire, which involved waste materials, was already burning intensely.
Mobile subscribers of M1, StarHub, and SingTel in the vicinity, as well as SGSecure app users, received text alerts advising them to avoid the area.
SCDF also reported increasing traffic congestion as firefighting efforts continue and urged the public to steer clear of nearby roads and use alternative routes.
According to The Straits Times, the fire is the third that occurred at the location since 2018.
In March 2024, a fire engulfed a 400 sqm processing area — roughly the size of a basketball court — and led to the evacuation of 25 people.
One person was conveyed to the hospital for smoke inhalation and burn injuries.
