'Alice In Borderland' season 3 back on Netflix in Sep. 2025
Most of the original manga's story has already been covered, so fans are eager to see how it develops.
"Alice in Borderland", the hit Japanese sci-fi thriller, is set to return for a third season on Netflix this September 2025, as announced by Netflix Japan via a teaser video on YouTube on Wednesday, Feb. 12.
Return of two main characters
The teaser confirms the return of Kento Yamazaki and Tao Tsuchiya as Arisu and Usagi, respectively.
In the video, a mysterious voice called out to them: “Won’t you return to that beautiful world?”
The clip featured high-stakes games, dramatic explosions, a seemingly fractured reality, and a runaway train.
It also teased the presence of a "Joker" character, with their playing card appearing multiple times.
“We’ve cleared all the games of the card suits, but we haven’t fought the Joker yet,” Arisu said.
Confirmation of new season
So far, Yamazaki and Tsuchiya are the only confirmed returning cast members.
Yamazaki confirmed on his Instagram page that the new season will air globally on Netflix in September 2025.
A wheelchair-bound figure in the show’s poster has sparked fan speculation about whether they are a returning character or a new addition.
Based on Haro Aso’s manga and directed by Shinsuke Sato, "Alice in Borderland" follows gamer Arisu and his friends as they find themselves in an abandoned Tokyo and are forced to compete in deadly survival games.
The first season premiered in 2020, followed by a second in 2022, which resolved major plotlines, but ended on an ambiguous note, hinting at a possible continuation.
With most of the original manga’s story already covered, fans eagerly speculate on what season three will bring.
Since its debut, the series has won multiple awards, including Best Cinematography, Best Visual or Special VFX in a TV Series or Feature Film, and Best Direction (Fiction) at the Asian Academy Creative Awards.
