Cyclist, 61, dies in Tampines road accident after sending grandson to school, driver, 47, arrested
Police investigations are ongoing.
After sending his grandson to school on his bicycle on the morning of Feb. 10, a 61-year-old cyclist got into an accident with a car in Tampines, which proved fatal.
In the wake of the man's passing, his family and friends have put out appeals on social media for eyewitnesses to come forward.
The 47-year-old driver has been arrested and is assisting in investigations.
The accident
Police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) told Mothership that the accident took place along Tampines Avenue 9 towards Tampines Avenue 2 on Feb. 10 at about 7:45am.
The accident involved a car and a bicycle, police said.
The next day, an appeal was put up on Xiaohongshu by a user identifying herself as a friend of the family.

The user disclosed that her friend's father had passed away in a traffic accident near Sun Plaza Park in Tampines, and appealed for footage or witnesses of the accident to come forward.
Had just sent grandson to school
A woman who is assisting the family in the deceased's affairs told Shin Min Daily News (Shin Min) that on that fateful morning, the deceased had brought his grandson to school, something he did on a daily basis.
The accident occurred when the deceased was cycling home, she said.
The woman added that prior to the accident, the deceased had been in good health and often commuted on a bicycle.
A Shin Min reporter who visited the accident scene on Feb. 12 observed that some oranges, a bottle of beer and incense sticks had been placed at the roadside, likely as offerings for the deceased.
Driver arrested
Police and SCDF said that following the accident, a 61-year-old male cyclist was conveyed unconscious to Changi General Hospital.
Police said the cyclist subsequently passed away in hospital.
A 47-year-old car driver has been arrested for driving without reasonable consideration causing grievous hurt.
Police investigations are ongoing.
