During the betting process for Malaysia's largest-ever Toto prize, a whopping RM121 million (S$36.78 million), things got ugly.

As punters queued up in a congested Sports Toto betting outlet in Klang, Malaysia on Jan. 18, 2025, a fight broke out among five people, involving punching and hysterical screaming.

The chaotic scene was captured in two videos posted to Facebook on Jan. 19.

The first clip has been viewed more than 1.1 million times in two days.

The fight

The clips showed two men, one in a maroon shirt and another in a dark grey shirt, punching and hitting a third man in a white shirt next to the counter, with some blows aimed to his head.

Other punters watched on as a woman, supposedly the wife of the man in white, screamed hysterically in Mandarin for them to stop fighting.

She also tried to shield him with her body.

A man in a purple shirt was seen pointing at the man in white and remonstrating with him.

"Stop fighting! If you keep hitting me, I will fight back!" the man responded in Mandarin.

4 men, 1 woman involved in fight: Police

The North Klang district police confirmed in a statement on their Facebook page that on Jan. 18 at around 5:47pm, they were alerted to an incident at a shop in Taman Klang Utama, a town in Klang.

Though investigations, police found that four men and one woman had been involved in a fight there.

The incident was caused by congestion whilst people were queuing to buy lottery tickets, police said.

Police added that those involved in the fight will be summoned to the police station to assist in investigations.

Record prize led to long queues nationwide

The RM121 million (S$36.78 million) prize money for the Sports Toto lottery was ultimately split among four winners, The Star reported.

Sports Toto CEO Nerine Tan noted the large jackpot, the first time the prize reached over RM100 million (S$30.3 million), led to a surge in the sale of lottery tickets, with long queues seen at Toto outlets nationwide.
