Woman found dead in Paradigm Mall JB toilet, case classified as sudden death

A woman was found dead in a toilet at Paradigm Mall, Johor Bahru (JB), on Sunday, Jan. 19, 2025 afternoon.

According to a Facebook post in a group for Thai nationals in Johor Bahru, the woman was Thai and had allegedly committed suicide.

The JB police later classified the case as a sudden death.

Blood on toilet floor

The Facebook post included a photo of a 30-year-old Thai woman’s passport, believed to belong to the deceased, along with an image of the toilet stall where a pool of blood was visible on the floor.

A pair of bloodied white shoes was seen nearby.

The post appealed to those who recognised the woman to come forward.

Paradigm Mall is about a 35-minute drive from Singapore.

Mall's statement

Paradigm Mall released a statement on Facebook in response to the incident.

It expressed its condolences and described the incident as “deeply saddening”.

The mall assured the public that it was cooperating fully with the authorities in their investigations.

They requested privacy for the deceased’s family and urged the public to refrain from speculation until further details are confirmed.

Police investigation

On Jan. 20, Johor Bahru North District Police Chief Balveer Singh confirmed through a statement on Facebook the discovery of the body at approximately 2:28pm on Jan. 19.

Preliminary investigations have not identified foul play in the case.

The woman’s identity is still under investigation, and her body has been sent to Sultanah Aminah Hospital for an autopsy.

The case remains classified as a sudden death, with the cause under investigation.

Police have urged the public not to speculate or spread misinformation about the incident.
