128.4kg giant grouper filleted & sold out in 20 mins at FairPrice Xtra in NEX

While some might want bigger fish to fry, surely no one is prepared for a fish that is literally 128.4kg in weight.

This was exactly what FairPrice Xtra at NEX shopping mall in Serangoon offered customers recently on Jan. 18.

Dubbed a "record-breaking giant grouper", the fish was laid out for shoppers to see before being filleted on the spot.

It was sold out in 20 minutes.

In response to Mothership's queries, FairPrice said the fish measured approximately 2m in length and was caught in waters off Indonesia.

It took three to four skilled cutters to fillet the grouper on the spot.

The filleted portions of the fish were sold at S$6.99 per 100g.
