A crane company in China awarded its workers 60 million yuan (S$11,136.072) in cash during its annual meeting on Jan. 25.

This was part of the more than 100 million yuan (S$18,558,620) in year-end bonuses given to Henan Mine employees.

In a video uploaded to the company's Douyin, employees were gathered around a long table that held piles of cash.

According to the Chinese news site Dahecube, a 60m to 70m long table was covered with money, and employees were given 15 minutes to count as much money as possible.

Count correctly, or else.

Dahecube reported that the founder of Henan Mine added an extra 20 million yuan on the spot, increasing the prize pot from 40 million yuan to 60 million yuan.

It added that a team of 30 people needed to select two employees who could count the fastest.

The two were tasked to count as much cash as possible within the allocated 15 minutes.

They will be allowed to keep all the money they were able to count, which will be shared equally among their teammates.

The two employees would also receive an additional 100 yuan (S$18.56) for participating.

However, if the cash were miscounted, a sum would be deducted from the bonus.

The founder said the money-counting session was designed to "add fun" to the company's annual meeting.

According to Chinese media outlet Times Finance, one employee counted 100,000 yuan (S$18,560.52) in 15 minutes.

Not the first time

In 2023, Henan Mine gave a total bonus of S$14 million.

S$11.8 million was awarded during the company's annual party on Jan. 17, 2023, and the rest was awarded during a competition hosted by the company the next day.

According to a video recording of the company's annual party posted by Dahebao, mountains of cash could be seen piling up on stage.

Some of the stacks appeared so heavy that two people were filmed carrying them onto the stage.

One of the recipients was also seen accidentally dropping a pile of cash on the floor when walking offstage because he carried too many stacks in his arms.
