A fire broke out at 3 Toa Payoh Industrial Park on May 9 night.

Videos of the fire circulated on social media as early as 9:57pm on Thursday.

After the fire was brought under control, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said just after midnight on May 10 that the fire measured about four basketball courts and involved two units.

The first unit is a car workshop, and the second unit is an industrial workshop.

The fire was extinguished in about 1.5 hours with six water jets and one unmanned firefighting machine.

About 60 firefighters deployed

A total of 15 emergency vehicles and about 60 firefighters were deployed.

In the course of the firefighting operation, a firefighter experienced cramps in his legs.

He was conscious and stable and conveyed to Tan Tock Seng Hospital as a precautionary measure.

SCDF later updated that the firefighter was assessed by a doctor at the hospital and did not require further treatment.

He is currently resting at home.

There were no other reported injuries.

What videos showed

In one video uploaded to Facebook early on, a raging fire could be seen at the industrial park.

Several firefighting vehicles arrived at the scene.

In another video, a witness said she heard the sound of "four blastings", despite the distance between her building and the site of the incident.

She also said she "could smell the thick smoke" at her home as well.

A third video of the fire showed smoke coming out of the industrial park.
More than 10 onlookers could be seen standing at the side of the road observing the fire.

SCDF at the scene

SCDF initially confirmed in a Facebook post at 10:35pm that a fire had broken out.
