S'porean man, 51, caught at Tuas Checkpoint with 60 vapes hidden in car floorboard

Officers from the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) foiled an attempt to smuggle vaporisers into Singapore at Tuas Checkpoint on Jul. 20, 2026.
ICA officers profiled a Singapore-registered car for enhanced checks and found 60 vaporisers hidden in the floorboard compartment of the car.
The 51-year-old male Singaporean driver was arrested in connection to the case.
The case has been referred to the Health Sciences Authority for further investigation.
The driver was issued a composition fine.
Under the Tobacco and Vaporisers Control Act, which came into force on May 1, 2026, persons found in possession or use of vaporisers can be fined up to S$10,000.
