Singaporean singer-actor Benjamin Kheng has addressed speculation that his noticeable weight loss is the result of diet drugs like Ozempic. He said the real reason is due to a serious cholesterol scare that put him on lifelong medication and a gruelling fitness routine.
Kheng posted a TikTok video on Jun. 8 after a user asked if he was on RETA, a weight loss drug, prompting him to set the record straight.
He said in the video:
"I'm not on any weight loss drug. I don't have the time or the money. What I'm on, if you'd like to try, is a lot of running, 60 kilometres a week because I'm training for my marathon block. Also a pretty awfully strict diet, no processed food, because last year I had high cholesterol. I had an LDL reading of 252, which is really bad. I am on lifelong medication and I'm on a pretty strict diet. Is it fun? Not really. Do I want to be this weight all the time? Not really as well."
A health scare in 2025
Kheng revealed in the video that in 2025, he had high LDL cholesterol, commonly known as "bad" cholesterol, with a reading of 252, which he described as "really bad.”
This prompted a lifestyle overhaul. Beyond the lifelong medication, he now runs 60km a week as part of his marathon training and follows a strict diet that cuts out all processed foods.
"Just go and work out"
Kheng closed the video with a message to those considering weight loss drugs.
He said:
"I wouldn't also recommend you to take any of these drugs. Just go and work out, be happy, healthy. That's pretty much it."
