A 36-year-old male driver was arrested on Jun. 17, hours after his GetGo car and a taxi collided outside Bendemeer MRT station.
Responding to Mothership's queries, the police said they were alerted at 8am on Jun. 17 to an accident involving a car and a taxi along Kallang Bahru towards Lavender Street.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) shared that they conveyed a 60-year-old male taxi driver and his 43-year-old female passenger conscious to Raffles Hospital.
The police added that the car driver abandoned the car and left the scene before police arrived.
Offences
Suspected drugs, drug-related paraphernalia, vaporisers and a knuckleduster were found in the car and seized as case exhibits.
The 36-year-old driver was subsequently arrested within five hours on the same day for various offences, including driving while under influence of drugs, driving without licence, dangerous driving, possession of scheduled weapon, and suspected drug-related offences.
The police said the suspected drug-related offences have been referred to the Central Narcotics Bureau, and the vaporiser-related offence has been referred to the Health Sciences Authority.
Investigations are ongoing.
Scene of accident
When Mothership arrived at the scene at about 9:55 am, the police had cordoned off the road for investigations.
An Expressway Monitoring Advisory System (EMAS) tow truck was present.
Both vehicles' airbags were deployed and onlookers were also seen taking photos and videos of the site.
What appeared to be motor oil was leaking from the red car, and debris was strewn across the street.

The red car sported a GetGo decal, and appeared to be more severely damaged than the taxi.
In addition, the Land Transport Authority had earlier posted on X that the road was closed after the accident.
Cabby, passenger sent to hospital
Responding to Mothership's queries, a GetGo spokesperson had previously said that investigations were ongoing and that they were unable to comment.
However, they added that "the safety of our users and the wider community is of utmost importance".
A ComfortDelGro spokesperson had also previously told Mothership: "We are aware of the incident that occurred along Kallang Bahru Road today, where another vehicle collided with one of our taxis."
The spokesperson revealed that the driver and the passenger were promptly conveyed to the hospital.
The passenger had since been discharged, and ComfortDelGro was in contact with the cabby receiving medical attention.
The ComfortDelGro spokesperson added: "Safety remains our top priority, and we will continue to provide our cabby and passenger support."
