Husband & wife die after being thrown from taxi in Hong Kong crash

The taxi hit the safety barrier and flipped over at least six times, landing on its wheels.

Two taxi passengers were killed in Hong Kong after they were thrown out of the taxi on the night of Jun. 16.

According to The Standard, the incident occurred at around 10pm on Tsing Sha Highway.

A light goods vehicle and a taxi were travelling eastbound along the highway towards Kowloon near Hoi Lai estate on Hong Kong's mainland.

The light goods vehicle reportedly lost control on the wet road and entered the taxi's lane before colliding with it.

Flipped at least 6 times

The taxi hit the safety barrier and flipped over at least six times, landing on its wheels.

The light goods vehicle also overturned and landed on its side.

According to Sing Tao Daily, the two people who died at the scene were a couple who got married on Oct. 1, 2025.

The couple consisted of a 38-year-old firefighter, Zhang, and his 35-year-old wife, Huang.

They had just returned to Hong Kong on Jun. 16, after their honeymoon in Thailand.

Sing Tao Daily reported that Zhang, who was also known as Aqin, was the younger of two sons and joined the fire department after taking two or three exams.

The 30-year-old taxi driver, surnamed Wu, injured his right hand and was taken to the hospital, reported Sing Tao Daily.

The 44-year-old light goods driver, surnamed Wang, was arrested by Hong Kong police for further investigations.
