Woman in China dies after bungee swing safety ropes fail, told staff ropes were not fastened before fall

A woman fell to her death from a bungee swing in Sichuan, China, following a supposed safety mishap.
The woman was reportedly launched from the platform despite her alerting the staff that the safety rope was not securely fastened.
According to Chinese media reports, the incident took place on May 3, 2026, at an adventure park located near Huaying, Sichuan.
Videos circulating online showed the woman attached to the swing via a safety harness and ropes.
The woman was then hoisted towards the edge of a platform via a mechanical cable.
As the woman approached the edge, she could be heard crying out and yelling that the rope was not fastened.
She was later seen falling into the canyon.
She later died on the way to the hospital.
A staff member of the bungee swing operator shared that the company is in touch with the family of the deceased, according to Jimu News.
The nature park in which the adventure camp was located had also temporarily suspended operations until May 10.
An investigation committee was set up by the Huaying City administration to look into the incident.
