Taiwan student asks ChatGPT if it's ok for the teacher to touch his genitals, leads to teacher getting jailed

A male high school teacher in Taoyuan, Taiwan, was sentenced to one year and two months’ jail for sexually assaulting a male student.

The teacher was exposed after the student’s mother discovered her son had sought help on ChatGPT, ETtoday reported.

Life skills

The accused, Lu, was apparently a life skills teacher.

He taught the student, identified in court documents as A, computer skills when he first entered the school.

A referred to Lu as “Jun Ye”, a nickname roughly meaning “Master Jun”.

On Jun. 9, 2025, A had arranged to meet Lu in the classroom via LINE to discuss a certain matter.

Incident

On the morning of Jun. 10, 2025, the teacher, Lu, called the student to a life sciences classroom during recess.

Lu then locked the classroom door.

As A had previously undergone heart surgery that left scars from his chest to his groin area, Lu asked him which part of his body the operation was carried out.

Lu then demanded that A remove his pants.

When he refused, Lu pulled A’s pants and underwear down to his knees, claiming that briefs were bad.

Lu proceeded to touch A for about one to two minutes.

Afterwards, Lu asked A not to tell anyone, including his mother, who also worked at the same school.

ChatGPT

As A did not dare to tell anyone about the incident, he sought help from ChatGPT.

He prompted the AI chatbot if it was normal for a teacher to touch his genitals directly.

A also told the chatbot that he thought it was for his own good, and he did not think it was his fault.

After using the chatbot, A forgot to log out.

Discovery

The next day, A’s mother discovered the prompts her son had entered when she turned on the computer he had used.

His mother waited until A got into her car after work before asking him if anything had happened recently.

Her son initially shook his head in denial.

When A’s mother mentioned that she had seen his prompts on ChatGPT, he broke down into tears and admitted that Lu sexually abused him.

Denied

CCTV footage in the school captured A entering the classroom and the door being locked from the inside.

However, Lu initially denied the allegations of sexual assault.

He alleged that A’s mother fabricated the story because of prejudices against him.

Lu said he had a girlfriend and would not sexually assault a male youth.

The judge did not accept his claims, citing that a person's sexual orientation is not fixed, and the presence or absence of a stable opposite-sex partner is not logically related to whether one would commit a sexual offence against someone of the same or opposite sex.

Furthermore, A's mother had no reason to frame him.

The Taoyuan District Court sentenced Lu to one year and two months’ jail for indecent acts against a minor.

The ruling may still be appealed.

Separate allegations

Lu was also alleged to have sexually assaulted another male student, identified in court documents as B.

He allegedly assaulted him on five occasions.

Lu apparently pulled down B’s pants and touched his genitals.

He also masturbated on B.

Screenshots of underage sexual videos were also found on Lu’s phone.

They were not images of A or B.

Lu claimed that these videos were taken by a student in 2020 during a playful fight and sent to him.

He apparently forgot to delete them.

Considering the lack of other evidence to prove his alleged actions toward B, and the inability to prove the sexual videos were related to the case, he was acquitted of the charges.

School

After being informed of the case, the school was required to complete a school safety report within 24 hours.

A gender equality committee was convened to initiate an investigation into this matter.

To ensure the safety of students, a teacher evaluation committee was subsequently convened, which initially decided to temporarily suspend Lu until the end of his term.

The gender equality committee's investigation determined that Lu's assault was factual.

Lu was terminated and permanently barred from being employed as a part-time or substitute teacher.
