M'sia Agong hosts Chinese actress Fan Bingbing at royal palace in Johor

The Malaysian Agong (king) recently hosted Chinese actress Fan Bingbing at the royal palace in Johor on May 12, along with the producer and director of the Malaysian film, "Mother Bumi".
According to The Star, the film earned global recognition through its achievements at the Golden Horse Awards, Tokyo International Film Festival and Far East Film Festival.
Fan was the lead actress in the film and was awarded "Best Actress" at the 2025 Golden Horse Awards for the role.
Fan's manager was also in attendance at the meeting with Malaysia's king.
In photo of the meeting shared on the king's Facebook page, Fan could be seen holding up a framed poster of the film.
The filmmakers and the leading cast have been on a tour across Malaysia in May to promote the film, MalayMail wrote.
The film will be released in Malaysian cinemas on May 14.
The Chinese actress was appointed Malacca's Tourism Friendship Ambassador as part of the promotion efforts of Visit Melaka Year 2024.
In 2025, she was conferred the title of "Datuk Kerhomat" (Honorary Datuk) after being credited with driving online engagement on Malacca.
Chinese tourist arrivals to the Malacca also tripled between 2023 and 2024.
