Two Malaysian sisters have died following a hit-and-run accident in Klang involving an SUV.
One of them, Wong Yu Chan (transliteration), had been planning to head to Kuala Lumpur on May 16 to celebrate Mother's Day with her daughter, Sin Chew Daily reported.
According to her daughter, Tan Xiao Tian (transliteration), the accident took place on May 15, just after dinner, and she was informed about it at 10pm.
Tan said her mother and aunt had decided to take a walk after dinner, with the accident occurring just shortly after.
A silver Mazda SUV has been impounded by the police.
Visiting sister in Klang
Tan added that her mother, who is from Jerantut, Pahang, was in Klang to visit her sister and had retired in June 2025 from running a hardware store.
During her visit, both of them had also gone to the hospital for a routine examination.
Her aunt had moved to Klang so that her son could attend Kwang Hua Private School.
Tan said, "We collect the remains of my mother and my aunt today (May 16) and send them back to Jerantut for a funeral," and added that she had been left heartbroken as she was now separated forever from her mother.
