The planned four-day sail of the Disney cruise ship in Singapore has been cancelled on May 8 after a report of engine failure.

The Disney Adventure was scheduled to sail out of Singapore on May. 7, but the cruise ship remained docked at the Marina Bay Cruise Centre well past the scheduled sailing time of 5pm.

The passenger shared that they boarded the ship at around 12pm on May. 7.

However, when they were supposed to set sail at 5pm, the passenger was informed of an engine issue they were trying to address.

Speaking to Mothership, the passenger shared that by 1:30pm of May 8, the cruise had cancelled all character meet-and-greets and performances on board.

Numerous passengers also queued at guest services to request refunds for the Wi-Fi packages they purchased for the cruise, as they were still able to use Singapore mobile data.

An hour later, it was announced on the cruise ship that the sailing had been cancelled.

Cancelled

According to a recording of an announcement made by the ship's captain, the ship remained in port while the ship's engineering team worked to "address an ongoing mechanical issue".

While the ship remained safe, it was announced that it would be cancelling the cruise.

The captain added that all passengers will be disembarked from the ship over the next few hours.

According to the cruise director, 100 per cent of the cruise fare will be refunded, along with any unused pre-booked packages.

In addition, all passengers will receive a pre-arranged complimentary hotel stay.

The cruise will also cover up to US$500 per stateroom for any flight changes, hotel changes and other incidentals for those who travelled from overseas.

"I'm devastated," the passenger told Mothership.

"It’s disappointing, especially when a lot of us have been so excited. And we’ve prepped pixie dusts, game plans, etc."

In response to Mothership's queries, a Disney spokesperson shared that the ship remains in port in Singapore due to a mechanical issue.

"As the issue has not been resolved in the timeframe required to start this voyage, this current sailing has been cancelled.

We apologise to our guests and are working with them directly to provide support for their travel needs.”
