A motorcyclist in Selangor, Malaysia, has died after a sports utility vehicle (SUV) allegedly lost control and crashed into him on May 5.
The accident
According to local news outlet Bernama, initial investigations revealed that the accident occurred at 1:45pm along Jalan 17/21 towards Jalan 17/26 in Petaling Jaya, Selangor.
A grey Proton X70 SUV driven by a man in his 70s had lost control and skidded into the opposite lane, crashing into a motorcycle ridden by a man in his 20s.
A video of the incident circulating on social media showed the SUV overtaking a car from the left before veering sharply into the path of the oncoming motorcyclist.
A loud bang was heard, and the motorcyclist was seen being thrown into the air as a result of the impact.

Investigations ongoing
Petaling Jaya District Police Chief Shamsudin Mamat said the police received a report of the incident at 2:08pm, Bernama reported.
"The motorcyclist sustained severe injuries and was confirmed dead at the scene, while the SUV driver was not injured," he said in a statement.
Shamsudin said the driver of the SUV was taken to the Petaling Jaya District Police Headquarters for further action.
Preliminary urine and alcohol screening tests on the man returned negative results, he added.
Police investigations are ongoing.
