A woman allegedly jumped from an upper level at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) after she failed to obtain a boarding pass back home.
The incident reportedly took place at the airport’s departure hall area and quickly drew attention on social media, with multiple clips showing bystanders gathering at the scene shortly after.
Allegedly unable to board flight
According to Malaysian media outlet Kosmo!, the woman is believed to be a Chinese national.
One witness who claimed to be present at the scene said that she became distressed after finding out she could not board her flight as she did not have a boarding pass.
The witness further claimed that she had been trying to return to China at the time of the incident.
Videos circulating online showed airport visitors gathering at the scene shortly after the incident, with staff and members of the public seen surrounding the area.
Another social media user alleged that the woman was still able to stand and walk, albeit in a dazed state, after the fall.

Woman arrested
In a May 17 statement, the KLIA police chief said that Malaysian police have arrested a Chinese national for trespassing.
The woman had allegedly passed through the autogate security check despite not having a flight ticket, reported the New Straits Times.
She then acted aggressively towards security personnel after being approached by staff for inspection.
According to investigations, the woman had entered Malaysia on Apr. 30 for a holiday with a friend.
But she did not have enough money to purchase a return ticket home, the police chief said.
Concerns raised
In online discussion threads, members of the public raised concerns about safety and security measures at the airport.
This comes on the back of two consecutive fatal incidents at the same airport.
On May 1, a 27-year-old Chinese woman and a 30-year-old Algerian national died after falling from height at a KLIA balcony.
Both incidents were said to be unrelated.
