A Singaporean man will be charged in court for posting content on his WhatsApp account that promoted enmity between racial groups in Singapore.

In an Apr. 27 news release, the police identified him as a 50-year-old of Chinese ethnicity.

The police received a report on Sep. 10, 2025, about three offensive images targeted at the Jewish community, posted on WhatsApp with a 24-hour status.

The profile of the WhatsApp account also contained a description with antisemitic messaging.

The police identified the owner of the account through investigations and arrested the man on Sep. 13, 2025.

He will be charged on Apr. 28, 2026, with two counts of attempting to promote enmity between different racial groups.

If convicted, he can be jailed for up to three years, fined, or both.

The police reminded the public that they take a serious view of acts that can potentially harm racial and religious harmony in Singapore, and will deal firmly with offenders.
