Ong Ye Kung to visit Hangzhou to co-chair 5th S'pore-China Social Governance Forum
He will be accompanied by Minister for Social and Family Development Masagos Zulkifli.
Minister for Health and Coordinating Minister for Social Policies Ong Ye Kung will be visiting Hangzhou in China together with Minister for Social and Family Development Masagos Zulkifli, from Apr. 19 to 22.
During this visit, Ong will co-chair the fifth Singapore-China Social Governance Forum (SGF) with Chinese government official Chen Wenqing, according to a press release by the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF).
Chen is a member of the Political Bureau (politburo) of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Secretary of the CPC Central Committee Political and Legal Affairs Commission (PLAC).
He previously served as China's Minister of State Security.
Ong and Masagos will also meet with Chen, who will be accompanied by Secretary-General of the PLAC Yin Bai and other Chinese
officials.
The ministers will also visit sites demonstrating China’s approach to social governance.
One of the key bilateral cooperation platforms between Singapore and China
The ministry added that the SGF is one of the key bilateral cooperation platforms between Singapore and China, as it provides an opportunity for officials from both countries to share experiences and exchange views on issues related to social governance.
This year's forum is themed "Building Cohesive and Stable Communities through Dispute Resolution".
It will feature Ong and Chen delivering keynote addresses while Masagos will deliver a speech on the main theme.
There will also be panel discussions on two sub-themes relating to grassroots governance and innovations in community dispute resolution.
Other members of the Singapore delegation for the visit include Minister of State for Manpower and Culture, Community and Youth Dinesh Vasu Dash, Minister of State for National Development and Trade and Industry Alvin Tan, Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Law and Social and Family Development Eric Chua and representatives from various ministries.
