A Malaysian woman recently shared a video of her visibly cheering up as she headed home after work in Singapore.

The video, posted on TikTok, showed her mood shifting from being tired earlier in the journey, to becoming noticeably happier after crossing into Johor Bahru.

"Finally in 🇲🇾," she wrote in the video.

"Can't hide how happy I am."

The video has struck a chord with many commuters who travel daily between the two countries.

Mood visibly changes as she gets closer to home

In her video, TikToker @itchzhaiii appeared drained while making her way back after work in Singapore.

However, her expression gradually brightened as she approached the Causeway.

She eventually broke into a wide smile once she reached Malaysia.

"POV: Work face → Home face," she captioned her video.

Netizens say they feel the same way

Other cross-border commuters shared similar sentiments in the comments section.

One said:

“Real! As soon as I breathe Malaysian air, I feel happier.”

Another said:

“Yes, same once reach JB I smile all the way home."

Some also pointed out that the long commute between Singapore and Johor Bahru can be exhausting, making the return home feel especially rewarding.

Others joked that earning in Singapore dollars while living in Malaysia also helped explain the smile.

“You smile because SGD1: RM3.”
