Man, 49, dies in China school's mediation room after learning only son, 15, bullied by classmates
He apparently became agitated after learning his son was bullied.

A 49-year-old man in Yunnan, China, died on Mar. 30 after learning that his son was bullied in school.
According to Jimu News, the man’s wife, Li (transliterated), said her husband was informed by the teacher that his son had been beaten up by a classmate.
The teacher requested that the couple go to the school to mediate with the parents of the other student.
When the victim's parents arrived at around 5pm, they learned the details of the bullying.
The man apparently became agitated and died shortly in the mediation room located near the school’s playground.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the mediation session in the school’s mediation room lasted around six minutes.
Neither parent argued harshly or got into any physical altercation during the mediation process.
No one knew how to render first aid
The school staff responded to the incident by providing an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), but no one at the scene knew how to operate it.
Emergency services were contacted, and Li was instructed on how to administer Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) over the phone.
Emergency staff subsequently arrived at the scene.
However, the man was pronounced dead on site.
Extent of son’s bullying
The couple’s son, a 15-year-old, ninth-grade student at a middle school in Malong District, Qujing City, was apparently bullied by his classmates.
The couple had learned that since the start of the spring semester, his classmates had been demanding snacks from him, and later, asked for money.
On Mar. 30, their son got into a fight with a classmate due to a verbal dispute.
According to Li, he was their only child.
Man previously diagnosed with hypertension
The deceased was previously diagnosed with hypertension and was on medication for a long time.
His blood pressure was generally well-regulated, it was reported.
The death certificate provided by Li identified the man as Yang (transliterated), and the cause of death was sudden cardiac death.
Investigations
The Malong District Education and Sports Bureau said a special task force has been set up to handle the matter.
The bureau declined to further comment on the incident.
The police also launched an investigation.
