5-car crash on CTE leaves woman, 32, injured after vehicles appear to switch lanes behind Traffic Police patrol car

A five-car accident took place along the Central Expressway (CTE) towards Ayer Rajah Expressway (AYE) on Friday evening (Apr. 17) after several vehicles appeared to switch lanes behind a Traffic Police patrol car.

Dashcam footage showed a chain collision unfolding in lane one.

In response to queries from Mothership, police said they were alerted to the accident at about 7:10pm.

A 32-year-old female passenger was taken while conscious to Singapore General Hospital.

Footage shared by Facebook group "SG Road Vigilante" shows a Traffic Police patrol car travelling along the rightmost lane with its emergency lights activated.

At least one vehicle travelling in the adjacent lane can then be seen moving into lane one behind the patrol vehicle.

In the video, a car ahead appeared to cut into lane one in front of the other vehicles before braking, after which several cars behind it collided in quick succession.

At least five vehicles were involved in the accident, according to the police.

Police investigations are currently ongoing.
