Woman, 60s, loses balance & falls outside Bugis MRT, SMRT staff renders first aid until ambulance arrives

SMRT staff were seen attending to a woman in her 60s who lost her balance and fell outside Bugis MRT on Mar. 3.
They rendered first aid and stayed until the ambulance arrived, earning praise from a passerby who witnessed the incident.
Elderly lady was on the floor
According to a Mothership reader, the incident happened at around 3pm.
He was passing by at the time and witnessed the commotion.
An elderly lady was seen on the floor being attended to by three SMRT staff.
"[The three SMRT staff] responded swiftly and handled the situation with remarkable calmness and professionalism," the reader praised.

He continued, "Their immediate action, compassion, and genuine concern for her well-being were truly admirable."
The reader also expressed gratitude to the staff for their "high standards of care and responsibility."
According to the reader, the staff stayed with the lady until an ambulance arrived.
SMRT staff found her with blood on forehead
Responding to Mothership's queries, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) confirmed that it received a call for assistance on Mar. 3 at about 4:40pm at 220 Victoria Street.
One person was conveyed to Raffles Hospital, the SCDF spokesperson said.
Lam Sheau Kai, President of SMRT Trains, told Mothership that the SMRT station staff at Bugis were alerted by a member of the public to the incident at 4:30pm that day.
"A lady in her 60s had lost her balance and fallen just outside the station," Lam shared.
SMRT's staff responded and found her along the pathway with blood on her forehead.
"They called for an ambulance and administered first aid. They also waited till paramedics arrived to convey her to the hospital," Lam said, adding that the lady's daughter was also informed.
"We are proud of our staff for their swift and thoughtful actions in assisting the injured lady, exemplifying our WeCare service ethos and care for our commuters," he said.
Injured elderly doing well, discharged from hospital
Speaking to Mothership, the woman's daughter shared that the elderly was admitted to ICU the night of the incident as there was "blood in her brain".
However, she was discharged on Mar. 5 and "all is good now".
"I would like to thank the SMRT staff for their quick assistance, which helped my mum a lot. They have also followed up by calling us the next day to check on my mum, and also sent a hamper to us," the daughter shared.
She also expressed gratitude to the passersby who rendered assistance.
