A 58-year-old Swedish national was sentenced on Mar. 16, 2026 to five months' and six weeks' jail after he molested three women, which included two women in one day and a third woman while out on bail.

Jan Roger Mattias Ditlofsson pleaded guilty to three charges of using criminal force to outrage modesty, according to charge sheets and court documents seen by Mothership.

The victims cannot be named due to a gag order protecting their identities.

Female chef

Ditlofsson arrived in Singapore on Oct. 1, 2025 to watch the Formula One race.

On Oct. 3, 2025, he drank around six to seven beers and entered a restaurant, where he approached a female chef setting up a buffet line and asked her where the swimming pool was.

After the 47-year-old woman replied Ditlofsson, he suddenly kissed her twice on her left cheek.

Outraged by his actions, she reported the incident to her supervisor after her shift.

Woman taking video of food

On the same day at the buffet section of a restaurant, Ditlofsson walked past a 60-year-old woman who was taking a video of the food and grabbed her right breast.

The woman then told her friend, who confronted Ditlofsson.

After staff called the police, Ditlofsson was arrested on the same day.

Waitress

On a separate occasion later on, he visited another restaurant when a 23-year-old waitress asked him if she could get him anything to drink.

Ditlofsson, who was out on court bail for the two incidents, told the waitress his name and reached out his right hand.

She extended her hand in return as she thought he wanted to shake her hand.

Instead, he kissed the back of her hand, which made her outraged and she pulled her hand away, the deputy public prosecutor said and noted that Ditlofsson had committed all three offences in a state of drunkenness.

Penalties

The DPP, who sought six to eight months' jail, said Ditlofsson's conduct demonstrated "a disregard for the personal autonomy and dignity of women".

The accused targeted victims who were simply carrying out their work duties or enjoying their time in Singapore, it was added.

Defence lawyer Barry Douglas Delaney highlighted in mitigation that his client is Swedish, and that in parts of Europe, people have a habit of kissing others on the cheek as part of their culture, The Straits Times reported.

After viewing the CCTV footage of the offences, which was was not played in court, Delaney conceded that this did not detract from his client's actions.

Those who use criminal force to outrage the modesty of a victim can be jailed for up to three years, fined, caned, or receive any combination of these punishments.
