A 29-year-old Singaporean man was charged on Mar. 5, 2026, for driving while under the influence of etomidate, which eventually resulted in the November 2025 Teck Whye car accident that left an 83-year-old woman dead.

Admitted to delivering K-pods

In a news release on Mar. 4, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) noted that three men will be charged in court on Mar. 5, 2026, for driving while under the influence of etomidate.

Lim Jinsheng, the driver involved in the fatal Teck Whye accident in November 2025, was one of the three.

According to charge sheets seen by Mothership, Lim faces eight charges in total for multiple traffic incidents between July 2025 and November 2025.

According to the SPF news release, on Aug. 10, 2025, at 9pm, Lim was driving a car which collided with a traffic light at the cross junction of Bedok North Avenue 3 and Bedok North Road.

The police checked his car and found two vapes in his possession, along with 38 pods in his bag.

Lim admitted to conducting delivery services for pods containing etomidate.

He was arrested for driving under the influence of a substance and driving without due care and attention.

Inhaled K-pod in Teck Whye accident

While under investigation for the August 2025 case, Lim became involved in the fatal Teck Whye car accident on Nov. 8, 2025.

Eyewitnesses that day said they saw Lim's car swerving erratically along Teck Whye Lane.

While on their way home, the 83-year-old woman was about to cross the road with another elderly woman when they were struck by Lim's car, which ended up on the kerb.

Eyewitnesses also said that after the collision, Lim appeared to be in a daze and allegedly kept his foot on the accelerator.

He also purportedly attempted to restart the car and insisted he did not hit anyone.

The 83-year-old woman, identified as Chen Jinbao (transliteration), was conveyed unconscious to the hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.

Lim was arrested at the scene and was subsequently found to have inhaled from a vape containing etomidate, the police noted in the Mar. 4 news release.

Charges for Teck Whye accident

Apart from the August and November 2025 accidents, Lim is also being investigated for driving without due care and attention on Jul. 8, 2025 and Jul. 16, 2025, respectively.

He is also being investigated for failing to conform to a red traffic light signal on Jul. 5, 2025.

For the fatal November 2025 Teck Whye accident, Lim faces three charges: dangerous driving causing death, dangerous driving causing grievous hurt and driving under the influence of a substance.

For dangerous driving causing death, Lim faces eight years' imprisonment. Serious offenders face an additional jail term of one to two years.

For dangerous driving causing grievous hurt, Lim faces one to five years in prison.

Serious offenders are punishable with an additional fine of S$2,000 to S$10,000, and an additional jail term of six months to one year.

For driving under the influence of a substance, Lim faces a fine of S$2,000 to S$10,000, jailed for up to 12 months, or both.

Second and subsequent convictions carry a fine of S$5,000 to S$20,000, and a jail term of up to two years, or both.
